The Cooley peninsula – the June image of my Ireland 2017 calendar – is a hidden gem on Ireland’s east coast. Here one will be surprised by a typical Irish landscape you would expect in the west of Ireland. For the best vistas you have to move just a bit from the coast and drive along narrow roads through the Cooley Mountains. The views of Carlingford Lough and the Mourne Mountains on the opposite bank are a truly stunning.
